Don’t Put Up a Zero: Micro-Commitments and Keeping Streaks Alive
No matter how busy the schedule, I think we could all agree in theory that it’s possible to spare just 1 out of the 1440 minutes each day for doing something of personal value. Yet, struggling to maintain a habit or fulfil a key commitment—day in and day out—is a universal experience.
I think we make things difficult for ourselves. Set the bar almost laughably low. Call just one minute a success. Because it truly is. Showing up to put something on the board is infinitely more meaningful than conceding a zero.
Making micro-commitments get the ball rolling and keeping the streak alive keeps the ball rolling. Momentum builds quickly. You just need one minute to make a start.
