I’m Happy You’re Here

Good sentiment. Great song.

I’m Happy You’re Here by Ugly (UK) is my favourite song at the moment. That isn’t monumental, of course, but that’s what I felt inspired to write about tonight after listening to it whilst washing the dishes.

Contrary to what the artist name may lead you to assume, I actually didn’t discover this in the UK. In fact, it came on randomly whilst I was having a siesta in Padrón, Spain as a part of the song radio for The Ooz by King Krule. Still sleepy after trying to recover from another 20+ kilometre walking day, I awoke to the final few minutes of the song. Intrigued, I added it to my liked songs. Over the past month, it has resolutely been my favourite song.

That’s pretty much all. They’re from Cambridge. I didn’t realise, but that’s fun. We were there just days ago. The themes of the song are cool. Now that I’ve looked it up, the message is about coming-of-age and being able to shed former versions of yourself whilst still being grateful for their existence. The lyrics are well-written, but truthfully, I hadn’t even stopped to consider their meaning until writing this post. I honestly just like the way the music sounds.

If you want to give it a spin, the near eight minute runtime flies by, don’t worry. Besides that, there isn’t much of a point to this post. I’d just like the song. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend!
