Tired, Comfortable, Ready

I write this to you from within the lively bar of our Copenhagen hostel. It’s only 5pm, and our only full day here, but I reckon we’re just about done for the evening. Not in a bad way. I’m more than happy to embrace that Norwegian hygge coziness for the rest of the night.

Yesterday marked the true embarking on our whirlwind Central Europe trip. I haven’t written about it yet, but it was exhausting. Could’ve been far worse. Two flights, but under 3hrs total travel. That’s unheard of as an Australian. Then, we breathed Danish air for the first time at nearly 2am, only to be unable to get into our hostel. Luckily, it all worked out in the end. We’re here. In Copenhagen, of all places! Our last flight until heading home.

Yes, I’m tired, but in a familiar way. We’ve been here before. Navigating strange schedules and new cities has been my modus operandi all year. I feel comfortable here. Denmark feels incredibly comfortable, too. Walkable. Historic, but not intimidating. Unhurried. Soft colours. Clean design. Intuitive to explore.

I think today has gone better than hoped. Coming here was a decision that could work, but didn’t necessarily fit in terms of energy levels, travel flow, or timeline. Nevertheless, it has. I feel really content with the full day we’ve spent here. Now time to unwind, organise, and prepare for a long trip into Germany tomorrow. I feel ready to start. Ready to go home, too. I don’t think I would’ve wanted to be away longer, now that we’re here.
