Back to School

Over the prior week, I spent a fair amount of time doing an assignment. I’m not at uni this year. Even so, this wasn’t that type of assignment. It was for Year 12. I felt like being back at school.

Why? Well, I made an assignment guide for the Maths Methods problem-solving task. When I was tutoring a lot of senior students last year, I thought it would be a nice idea. Since the skeleton was already there, I figured that building something again this year could be worth my time. Perhaps I’d help a couple of students. Maybe they’d consider tutoring.

Besides, even if no-one sees it, I didn’t hate it. There was actually something quite comforting in spending time trying to solve a complex problem. Using maths. Just a very different part of my brain to exercise. I’ve certainly had problems to work through this year, but of a very different ilk.

Plus, I think I might’ve been a nice little warm-up for returning to the real world shortly. A reality of deadlines and pressure and work. Plenty more university study to come. For that, this was a nice low-pressure introduction. A timely reminder just how privileged I’ve ben to spend all year wandering around the world. A seemingly productive way to spend a long train ride.
