Summer Sleepwalking
It’s 11:13pm. Right now, I’m sitting on a train rapidly approaching Valencia, fighting for my life to keep my eyes open.
We just spent two night—or three jam-packed days, more accurately—alone in Barcelona. Incredible city. Perhaps the short-term destination so far that we’ve really sunk our teeth into the most you could say, given the limited time.
The European summer vibes are real. Asia was incredible. This is unbelievable as well.
Yet, what has truly dawned on me in the last segment of this commute is just how exhausted I feel. Spain has been a blur thus far. Amazing, but more like a dream that I’ll wake up from shortly. Vietnam feels a mile away now, but I was only on a plane from Ha Noi three sleeps ago.
I think we did really well to make the most of our time in Barcelona, given our 7:30am arrival, straight off the plane. In the two nights we did spent at our accommodation, I was out as soon as my head hit the pillow, but ready to tackle the city once more the next morning. Now, it’s catching up to me.
I hope I can match the energy of our friends when they pick us up tonight. I’m so excited, but I also just want to sleep. In a couple of days, I’m sure things will feel less frantic. For now, everything is going awesomely, but I’m scared the threads are being stretched thin. The time difference has been tricky with work, but I’m keeping it together.
We’ve just arrived in Valencia! Talk soon 🙂
