Sacred Lands, Tired Legs
Writing this from our beautiful homestay here in Tam Coc in Ninh Binh, Vietnam. Soon I’ll certainly be in the pool. Tomorrow morning, we depart for Hanoi.
Today was a great day, but absolutely draining. We saw the region’s highlights just about back-to-back-to-back-to-back, seemingly exploring every cave, temple, pagoda, mountain, and waterway that exists. It is clear that this area represent a deeply sacred, special place for Vietnamese people. No wonder it boasts a UNESCO World Heritage recommendation.
It was brilliant, but we’re all absolutely run off our feet. Such is the nature of trying to see everything you can in the fleeting time you have in each place. I feel incredibly glad that I took the route of delegating the tour responsibilities this time. I’m both stingy and enjoy the independent planning of adventures, but this one wouldn’t have been possible, or nearly as good, if I hadn’t arrange a driver for us. Spending some coin to ease your decision-making burden dramatically continues to seem like a good investment.
It has been wonderful in Vietnam so far. I want to do all I can to maximise this time with friends. I also dearly want to sleep. Plenty I could write about, too. Perhaps on the bus tomorrow. Take care x
