A man in a coat holding a briefcase stands at a train station platform as a train passes by.

Staggering Efficiency

Catching the train in Japan is an unbelievably pleasurable experience. Life without a car in Australia is idyllic, but near-impossible. Here, it is systematically designed as such and makes complete sense for the people. So, it is commonplace, especially in the city. People use the public transport because it is affordable priced, incredibly reliable, and relevant, in that it takes you to exactly the places you want to go. Or rather, the places you want to go were built around the epicentre of the train station to begin with. I really find it beautiful and it means for walkable, clean, and easily navigable cities.
